Given the present and future growth of passenger traffic in the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Bahrain Airports Company (BAC) has embarked upon launching the Tahleeq Programme that seeks to identify, attract and recruit talented individuals to become the new generation of air transport leaders for their country.

During the 2019 Airports Council International (ACI) Asia-Pacific / World Annual General Assembly, Conference and Exhibition being held in Hong Kong, China from April 2-4, this joint initiative with BAC was officially announced.

ACI will be providing knowledge and competency based training through their diverse range of their programmes over a two-year period, to cover all aspects of airport business, terminal and landside operations as well as airside operations.

Programme is designed to build capacity

Bahrain Airport Company started an initiative in 2014 to build up the capacity of high-performance Bahraini university graduates who wanted to join aviation sector.

The programme trained Bahrainis who were selected over these years in two different batches to provide them with practical experience and the opportunity to participate in the airport modernization programme as part of BAC’s efforts to develop the Bahrain International Airport.

First intake

There was an intake of 20 graduates in the first group and 20 in the second group who were placed in different specialized sections of the airport, mainly seconded to the  different departments such as the Development and Technical Team, Airport Operations, IT team and Support Services.

Mohamed Yousif Al Binfalah- CEO of Bahrain Airport Company stresses the fact that “The Bahrain Airport Company is one of the prestigious companies in the Kingdom, the strategy of which is to invest in supporting local talents and enabling the national manpower. Pursuant to the foregoing, we have launched “Tahleeq Programme” to be an ideal platform that provides the graduates with a unique opportunity to join the team of BAC and to commence their practical life with this valuable practical experience”.

He also emphasizes that “Tahleeq” is a unique opportunity of its kind for professional development and also is a part of an ambitious national project.

These programmes are crucial for development

Bahrain Airport Company emphasizes the importance of such programmes in the aviation industry and the timeliness of such initiatives to develop the next generation of leaders in this industry.

Through this commitment to the Bahrani nationalization policy, this programme is key to consistently, for the next few years, build the local talent pool and maintain a highly talented workforce in this specialized sector.
