“Collaboration allows us to go further, faster.” – Simon Sinek
ACI World has forged a transformative partnership with the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC), achieving a significant milestone in advancing global airport security standards.
Who is ECAC?
Founded in 1955 as an intergovernmental organization, the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC) seeks to harmonize civil aviation policies and practices among its Member States while fostering global cooperation on aviation policy matters. With 69 years of experience, ECAC has played a pivotal role in inter-governmental collaboration, addressing the evolving needs of the air transport industry across Europe. Its broad membership and expertise allow it to respond effectively to the increasingly complex challenges of modern aviation security.
New CASE II project under the ACI-World-ECAC partnership
The collaboration between ACI World and ECAC began in 2023 with the signing of a Cooperation Agreement, marking a major step forward in addressing evolving security challenges.
The partnership has already yielded impressive results. In 2023, the CASE II project under the ACI World-ECAC partnership saw the APEX in Security reviews in Indonesia, Madagascar, and Vietnam. The momentum continued in 2024, with successful assessments in Malaysia, Senegal, and the Maldives These in-depth assessments have not only improved security performance at individual airports but also set a new benchmark for global aviation security practices.

Why APEX is important for airports and travellers?
For airport operators, the APEX in Security program offers a structured approach to identifying vulnerabilities, implementing best practices, and prioritizing risk mitigation.
Beyond security enhancements, the benefits include:
- Operational efficiency: Streamlined procedures reduce delays and improve workflow.
- Cost reduction: Proactive security measures minimize financial risks linked to security breaches.
- Enhanced reputation: Airports with strong security standards gain trust from passengers and stakeholders.
For travellers, these improvements translate into a safer, smoother airport experience. By proactively addressing security challenges, airports can foster greater confidence in air travel, ensuring a seamless and stress-free journey.

Looking ahead
This partnership underscores the power of international collaboration in tackling complex security issues.
ACI World’s ongoing partnership with ECAC exemplifies a shared commitment to innovation and excellence. As the aviation industry faces evolving threats, initiatives like APEX in Security provide a robust foundation for a secure future. Together, ACI World and ECAC are driving tangible change, safeguarding the integrity of global aviation, and ensuring passengers can travel with confidence.
