The 2019 ACI Asia-Pacific/World Annual General Assembly Conference & Exhibition wrapped up on 4 April 2019 in Hong Kong, China. Graciously hosted by Hong Kong International Airport, the conference brought over 900 delegates to discuss what’s next for the future of aviation.

Over the course of three days, attendees listened to sessions based on capacity building, developments in aircraft operations, new technologies for connecting with the passenger, NEXTT, and other innovative topics that provided insight and industry expertise about where the future of aviation is going, as well as potential solutions to new challenges that could arise.

In her closing remarks, Angela Gittens, Director General of ACI World, referenced the need to constantly adapt to what the future may look like.

We in the aviation industry are committed to a healthy and sustainable future. Air travel demand is on the rise and as new ways of traveling take shape, we must continue to innovate and adapt. But like most successful journeys, a roadmap is necessary,” she said, “I hope you’ll agree that we have gained many insights from the forums, sessions and networking events, and that we are a little more confident as to how we can move forward as a united industry.

After thanking the host and sponsors for 2019, Ms. Gittens was then accompanied on stage by Mr. Martin Eurnekian, Chair of ACI World and President of Aeropuertos Argentina 2000 for the handover ceremony. It was officially announced that Aeropuertos Argentina 2000 will host next year’s annual conference in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Buenos Aires, Argentina is the perfect location for our gathering. The country’s air traffic in particular has shown no signs of slowing down in recent years. Having achieved 13.9% year-over-year growth in 2017, Argentina’s airports are the fastest-growing airports in South America for passenger traffic,” Mr. Eurnekian said, “I am particularly eager to welcome you all to our beautiful home as we continue to address some of the most pressing issues in the field and together, find solutions.

The 30th ACI Latin America-Carribbean/World Annual General Assembly, Conference and Exhibition will take place in November 2020.
