The value of air cargo to the industry and economies is paramount and as such for the event’s last Forum, ACI decided to join forces with The International Air Cargo Association (TACA) to deliver two engaging sessions on the topic.
How to Create a World Class Air Cargo Handling at an Airport
The first, titled “How to Create a World Class Air Cargo Handling at an Airport,” explored the elements required to create the very best cargo hub and how quality programmes such as Cargo Service Quality can contribute to an improved an transparent handling setup. The panel, which was moderated by TIACA’s Steven Polmans, Head of Cargo & Logistics, provided the audience with both the airport and the air cargo handler’s point of view. Panelist Steven Verhasselt, Vice President Commercial, Liege Airport, summed up the relationship as a “partnership, a two-way street in a long-term deal.” He was joined by: Jenny Lam, Chief Executive Officer, Cathay Pacific Services Limited, Wilson Kwong, Chief Executive Officer, Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited, and Alaina Shum, General Manager, Aviation Logistics, Airport Authority of Hong Kong.
Embracing Digitization in Air Cargo Activities
The second session, “Embracing Digitization in Air Cargo Activities,” explored some of the opportunities and challenges digitalization may bring and how airports can take advantage of them. Moderator Amar More, Director and CEO, Kale Logistics Solutions Private Ltd. and Board Director, TIACA, set the scene by explaining how the recent booming of e-commerce, community collaboration and new technologies are transforming the air cargo industry fast. Adding to the topic through their distinct positions were panelists: Ryan Chen, General Manager, Earth Network – Construction Project Center International Department, Cainiao; Denny Fikri, President, Angkasa Pura Kargo; Ramesh Mamidala, Chief Executive Officer, Celebi Delhi Cargo Terminal Management India Pvt Ltd; and, Sara Van Gelder, Cargo Business Development Manager, Brussels Airport Company.
