COVID-19: Brussels Airport Staff Show Their Persevering Spirit as Recovery Commences

The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the aviation industry was immediate and dramatic but, across the world, the community of airport staff and their families have shown resilience and their spirit in the face of adversity.

Brussels Airport is well-known for its close-knit community. Indeed, the airport has been an example to others in building a strong bond between management and staff and for collaboration across the entire operation, no matter the challenge.

“The past few months haven’t been easy, but we kept on working hard to keep logistics running and allow for essential travel,” the Brussels Airport team said on social media. “And better days are coming as more European countries are opening their borders again.”

It was in the context of this growing optimism that the team at Brussels Airport received an intriguing challenge,

“The Port of Antwerp challenged us to keep dancing through this difficult period.”

It was a challenge that the team was only too happy to accept.

From home and from the airport, Brussels Airport staff – and even their children – danced together to meet the challenge and the result is welcome boost to morale for all of us in the industry.

This spirit of perseverance will be even more important as the restart and recovery of operations begins to gather pace.

International travel from Brussels will soon be possible – Brussels Airport, Brussels Airlines and TUI are looking forward to welcoming passengers and providing them with the safest and most comfortable airport experience possible.

Brussels Airlines will resume flights as of the 15th of June to 20 destinations which will gradually be increased to 59 destinations in the summer months. TUI will resume its flights as of the 1st of July and will be operating flights to 70 destinations in the second half of the month.

That is enough to get anyone dancing!

This is good news for the staff at FEBIAC (la fédération de l’Industrie de l’Automobile et du Cycle en Belgique et au Grand-Duché de Luxembourg) as the Brussels Airport team has now set them the challenge to see some of their dance moves.
